Crisis to Transformation Resources

“Post-pandemic, more people will think of education as a public service more than a place.” – Tom Vander Ark, March 24, 2020

The Chinese word for crisis is widely attributed as being a combination of danger and opportunity. This set of reflective articles and research focuses on how we can use the circumstances created by COVID-19 to reimagine public education. Education as a “public service” captures the related concepts of learner-centered design. It helps us move away from thinking of a school system as a collection of school buildings to an integrated system of learning that addresses the needs of the whole child.

Will the COVID-19 crisis really change education? Grant Lichtman, Education Reimagined, April 15, 2020.
