Sylvia Anthony-McGeachy
Innovation Lead Coordinator
Sylvia Anthony-McGeachy currently serves as the NELA Wallace Grant Coordinator in Edgecombe County. As the NELA Wallace Grant Coordinator, she represents 13 Northeastern North Carolina School districts in collaboration with two other districts and North Carolina State University on a multi-million dollar Wallace Foundation Grant to redesign NCSU’s MSA program. A key initiative of the grant was creation of the state Leadership Dashboard in partnership with NCDPI and SAS. Additionally, she works closely with the ECPS Innovation department to implement districtwide initiatives that bring unique equity focused learning experiences to students.
Prior to her current position, Sylvia served in several roles in public education including classroom teacher, media specialist, academic coach, education specialist, and school administrator. She is passionate about developing the hidden talents in others to enable them to achieve their professional goals. Sylvia’s drive to help others reach their potential began prior to her transitioning to education. Before earning her teaching certification, Sylvia worked in the business world as a recruiter, trainer, and human resources director.
She and her husband, Thomas, have two adult children: Justin and Marissa. Although originally from Virginia, Sylvia and her family made North Carolina their home after her husband retired from the military in 2006.
