Competency-Based Education Field Scan and Mastery Transcript Consortium Meeting
Based on existing initiatives and interest among TIP districts, TIP conducted a field scan of funders, organizations, and major resources focused on competency-based education, and created the resource linked below. Please contact Joe Ableidinger with questions and comments on this document.
In addition, with Dr. Moody’s leadership, we have engaged in conversations with state leaders from DPI and a representative of Mastery Transcript Consortium (MTC), a network of public and private high schools codesigning the Mastery Transcript, “a high school transcript that supports mastery learning and reflects the unique skills, strengths, and interests of each learner.” MTC’s approach is organized around performance areas instead of academic departments, and mastery standards and micro-credits instead of grades. MTC operates a technology platform that aggregates students’ credits and related evidence of their work and mastery into a user-friendly and transparent record for review by college admission offices and professional organizations.
