TIP NCSU Teaching Scholars

To address North Carolina’s pronounced teacher shortage, TIP worked with North Carolina State University’s College of Education to establish a new scholarship program for future teachers, especially in STEM and Special Education. Recipients agreed to teach in specified rural or semi-rural TIP districts for two years following graduation, in exchange for receiving a $10,000 over the first two years of employment.  TIP and NCSU collaborated and refined the project over a two-year period. In August of 2019, NCSU College of Education Dean Mary Ann Danowitz announced that they would expand the program to the rest of the state as the North Carolina Education Scholars.  Any school district interested can contact the NCSU College of Education for more information.
