Despite a poverty rate of 27%, Tyrrell achieved a third-grade reading proficiency rate of 60%, far exceeding the expected rate of 37%. The article highlights Tyrrell as one of the few districts in the state making significant gains in early literacy, showing what’s possible when strong instruction and support systems are in place.
